The Marketers' Forum has joined forces with the charity initiative 'Suit Amnesty' to offer our services for the greater good. Throughout May 2012, our central London office in Farringdon will play host to city dwellers who wish to drop off their old suits to help those less fortunate than themselves.

 

‘Suit Amnesty’, is a unique campaign calling on people to donate outgrown and unwanted suits to charity. The idea is to re-gift suits to disadvantaged and homeless jobseekers, helping them into work. Presentation is key when going for a job interview and not owning a suit can be a big barrier for those looking for work. The Suit Amnesty ensures clothing that is no longer needed can be put to good use and help people take their first step on to the career ladder.

Running for the first time last year, over 2000 suits were collected with 22 different charities benefiting. MPs and fashion designers donated too, as did celebrities including Danielle & Gary Lineker.

 

“There are thousands of unwanted suits gathering dust in wardrobes. Owning a good suit is something most of us take for granted, so to allow young and homeless people to get on to the employment ladder is a great gift. ” says Katherine Sparkes from Suit Amnesty.

 

The scheme runs throughout May 2012.  Drop-off points span a whole host of businesses from The Marketers’ Forum to The Life Science Centre in Newcastle.
